Obituary

Addie Farris W. Mayfield, 90, of Columbus, passed away at 2:55 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Four Seasons Health Care. Farris was born on July 27, 1923 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Samuel V. and Addie Scroggins Wiggins.

She met Clyde Mayfield when they entered South Side High School, and after graduating, they were married on Easter Sunday, April 5, 1942. In November, her husband enlisted in the Army Air Corps and in 1943 was assigned duties with ATC in West Palm Beach and remained at that post until he was discharged. Farris and Clyde were blessed with four children, Larry C. Mayfield, Terry Allen Mayfield, James Daniel (Danny) Mayfield, and Cynthia Mayfield.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Forest Hill Midtown in Memphis, Tennessee with the Rev. Tom Elkins, of Germantown Baptist Church, officiating. Family and friends may call from 8 a.m. until service time Wednesday. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Memphis.

Farris is survived by her husband, E. Clyde Mayfield; children, Larry C. (Linda) Mayfield of Columbus and Cynthia Mayfield of Kokomo; seven grandchildren, Wendy Mayfield of Fishers, Michelle (Tony) Fravel of Greenwood, Brittany Mayfield of Noblesville, Jessica Jones of Corona, California, Mark and Kara Mayfield of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, Byron Seward of Tampa, Florida, and Andrea Younts of Walton; seven great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Matthew Fravel of Greenwood, Alec and Emily Mayfield of Oconomowoc, Jaden, Kennedy, and Brogan Younts of Walton; a brother, Robert Wiggins of Germantown, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.

Farris is preceded in death by her parents; and sons, Terry Allen Mayfield and James Daniel (Danny) Mayfield. Farris will be greatly missed by her husband, children and family. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
