Obituary

Hildre Allen Ray, 74, departed from this life to meet Jesus on August 6, 2022.  Hildre (Al as he was known to many) was born to Jess and Bessie Ray in Dyer County, Tennessee.  Hildre leaves his wife, Sheila, of 55 years, two sons, Anthony Allen (Donna) and James Andrew (Leslee).  He leaves 3 grandchildren, Tommy (Cody), Drew (Ashley), Megan (Danny).  Hildre leaves 4 great-grandchildren, Layne, Paisley, Annalee, and Jax.  Hildre is also survived by his extended family, Connie, Scotty, Amanda and Ann.  Hildre was predeceased by his parents and one sister.  He is survived by 4 brothers and 3 sisters, Jessie(Loyce), Jerry(Janet), Roger(Kathrine), David(Chris), Joy(Roy), Peggy and Barbara.  Mr. Ray was a member of New Life Apostolic Church.  Sgt. Ray retired from the Memphis Police Dept. after 27 years of service.  He served in many areas including Vice, Tact Unit and Homicide.  After retirement he continued his law enforcement career by serving with the Tennessee Dangerous Drugs Task Force and he also provided service to the Hyde Family of Memphis.  Hildre loved his family and his accomplishments were many.  He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.  The services for Mr. Ray will be at Fountain of Truth Church, 7036 Hwy 70, Bartlett, TN 38133.  Visitation Friday, August 12 from 5:00-7:00 PM, Saturday from 11:00 to 12:00 with funeral service to begin at 12:00 PM.
