Albert "Fred" Gardner, 95, passed away on a Sunday afternoon, October 3, 2021 at the State Veteran's Home in Oxford. He was born the youngest of 7 children on December 11, 1925 to the late John Daniel and Lila Dale Gardner in Oxford, MS. He was a veteran having been called to serve in 1944 in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of Looxahoma Baptist Church and retired from W.R. Grace. He was married to the late Opal Gardner on February 13, 1947. He lived most of his adult life in Memphis, TN and later moved to Senatobia, MS. Fred was a good provider for his family and he loved the Lord, he loved to be outdoors, reading the paper, watching the weather, spending time with his family and burning firewood every winter. He lived through The Great Depression, several wars, watched as humans were launched into space for the first time and walked on the moon, black and white TV change to color, the Civil Rights Act, 17 U.S. presidents in office and many other world events that he lived to tell about and share with his family. He was proud to have been chosen to serve his country in a time of war and took honor in the great discipline that was instilled in him from his time serving. He was preceded in death by his 6 siblings, Clarence Gardner, Moody Gardner, Lula Mae Goode, Ruby Littlejohn, Carrie Lee Littlejohn and Robert Gardner. He is survived by his daughter, Ginger Wilson (Ricky) of Crenshaw, MS; son, Mike Gardner (Barbara) of Millington, TN; grandchildren, Shawn Gardner (Christinann), Josh Gardner, Chelsea Gardner, Molly Gardner, Samuel Wilson (Robin), Joseph Wilson and Katie Hall (Jamie) and 13 great grandchildren. He will be missed, not forgotten and his memories shared for years to come.
