Alfred L. Jameson, born October 22, 1932, peacefully entered his heavenly home on February 7, 2024, after 91 fulfilling years of life!
Pop, as he was affectionately called by his family, is survived by his wife of 67 years, Margaret; Daughter
Janet Mitchell (Barry); and Son Steve Jameson (Pat). He was so proud of his four grandchildren: Brad Jameson (Lindsay), Megan Carpenter (Michael), Andy Jameson (Katie), and Adam Mitchell (Erica). The lights of his life were his four great-grandchildren Lyla, Eli, Alise and Levi Carpenter. He was one of 13 children and is also survived by his brother, Jim.
Pop was preceded in death by his parents, Waldo and Addie; Brothers W.F., Charles, Howard, David, Terrell, Don and Wayne; Sisters Kathleen Pinkston, Bonnie Blackwell, Mattie Lou Jameson and Rosa Lee Peel.
He joined the U.S. Army in March 1953 and proudly served his country as a lineman in Germany and France in the waning days of the Korean War, becoming a reservist until his honorary discharge in March 1961. Pop spent many years working in the construction industry as a construction superintendent. He was an extremely talented carpenter, running the jobs on many large commercial construction projects around Memphis and the Mid-South. He also freely gave of his time and talents to complete many projects for family, friends and local charitable organizations, even well into his eighties. He was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church, Cordova until his health began to decline. He served in local mission endeavors, having a particular passion for the ministry of Brinkley Heights Urban
Academy. His efforts also extended internationally to Jordan and Brazil to work directly with missionaries serving there.
Please join us for a celebration of Pop's life on Wednesday, February 14th at Trinity Baptist Church, 8899 Trinity Rd., Cordova TN 38018. The family will begin receiving visitors at 10:00 a.m. with the service to follow at 11:00 a.m.
Memorials may be sent to Trinity Baptist Church, Cordova-Missions Fund or Brinkley Heights Urban Academy, Memphis.
