Andrew C. Black Jr. passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026. A lifelong musician, singer, and creative spirit, Andy’s creativity came to fruition with the music he created and the artists he elevated.

A graduate of Frayser High School, Andy’s career in the recording industry spanned decades. He lent his talents to legendary local institutions, including Shoe Studios and Ardent Studios, while operating his own business, Audio Media Productions. Through his work, he made significant contributions to major films like Hustle & Flow, Black Snake Moan, and The Grace Card. Throughout his career, he was known for his ability to funnel his creative energies into music, fostering a collaborative environment for countless musicians and artists.

Andy was particularly proud of the extensive work he did in support of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, helping to amplify their mission through his professional craft.

Andy was preceded in death by his wife, Linda D. Black.

He is survived by his sons, Nathan Black (and wife, Laura) and Jeffrey Black; his two grandchildren, Gage Black and Kyra Black, who knew him as "PawPaw" or "Derrick"; and his three sisters, Becky Dodds, Linda Young, and Merry Smith. He also leaves behind many friends from his high school days and the Memphis music community.

A visitation will be held Saturday, April 11th, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Forest Hill Memorial Park East, 2440 Whitten Rd., Memphis, TN 38133, with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m.
