Angela Evelyn Spiers born February 27, 1959 in Huntsville, AL passed from this life into the presence of our Lord on March 7, 2016 in Memphis, TN. Angela was a graduate of Wooddale High School in Memphis and The University of Tennessee at Knoxville with a degree in education. She began her career in teaching hearing impaired children at Tennessee School for the Deaf, continued at Missouri School for the Deaf and ultimately retired from Memphis City Schools after many years of service. During her tenure with Memphis City Schools, she taught hearing impaired children at Sea Isle Elementary and White Station High School. Angela was considered an extraordinarily talented American Sign Language interpreter and made a positive impact on hundreds of school children. In 1992 she was selected to be one of the interpreters for Mikhail Gorbechev in his Fulton, Missouri speech. Angela was a member of the Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas E. Spiers, Jr. Leaving to grieve her absence are her mother, Jean B. Spiers; her sister, Lorraine B. Spiers; brothers: Thomas E. Spiers III and Burton Spiers all of Olive Branch, MS; her sister, Toni Kittinger of Jacksonville, FL; Aunt Betty Koestler of Greenville, MS; nieces and nephew: Loni Tully of Hernando, MS, Natalie Fleeman of Jonesboro, AR, Elizabeth Spiers of Ridgeland, MS, Thomas E. Spiers IV of Starkville, MS, Rachel Spiers of Memphis, TN, Kaye Spiers of Bell Fouche, SD, Meghan Clenney of Southeast Asia, Olivia Spiers of Olive Branch, MS, and seven great nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you honor her life by donating to St. Jude Hospital. A visitation will be held Thursday March 10, 2016 from 9-10 am with a funeral service to follow at 10:00. All services and interment will be held at Forest Hill, South on Holmes Rd.
