IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ann Bowen
Wade
February 21, 1933 – May 28, 2025
Our beautiful mother and grandmother, Ann Bowen Wade, passed away peacefully with family on May 28th, 2025. She was born on Feb. 21st in Brillant, Alabama to the late Jimmie and Cara Bowen. She often spoke of her love for her family and her Alabama roots.
After high school, she graduated from Florence State (University of North Alabama) where she met the love of her life, Roger. Ann's passion was teaching, and she enjoyed teaching elementary school in both Florida and Alabama. She and Roger moved to Jackson, MS where Roger attended and graduated from Reformed Theological Seminary. They were called to lead a church in Bartlett, TN. Ann was very active in the choir and in teaching both the women and children's groups. She would often play the autoharp to accompany the children and was also known for her homemade bread that she would give to people she would visit. Strengthened by her faith, she met each of life's challenges with extraordinary grace and courage.
She and Roger enjoyed hiking in the Smoky Mountains and enjoyed God's beauty in nature. They were both passionate about Alabama Football.
Ann was preceded in passing by her parents; her loving husband, Roger Wade; one brother, James A. Bowen; two sisters, Martha Bowen and Sue Webster; as well as one sister-in-law, Virginia Eckert.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Anna (Steve) Tate and Melissa; her sister, Gail (Wayne) Burleson; and brothers-in-law, Bob Eckert and Bob Webster. She was a wonderful "Mimi" to grandchildren, Michael (Brittany), Kelly (Brandon), and James (Sara), as well as great grandchildren, Oliver, Sunnie and Lucas. She will also be missed by her many friends and church family.
Pallbearers are Michael Frazier, James Cockroft, Brandon Albert, and Steve Tate.
The family will hold a private graveside service on Monday, June 2nd at Forest Hill Funeral Home - East on Whitten Rd.
