Anna Mavis Caraway of Memphis, TN was born on January 25, 1929, and passed away on March 4, 2013, at her home. Mavis worked as a telephone operator at AT&T, both in MO and TN, when she was young. She then stayed home to raise her three sons and many of her friends'' children, whom she kept in her home. She later went back to work and retired from Baptist Hospital after working there for 20 years as a critical care waiting room receptionist. She was an active member of Leawood Baptist Church. Mavis is the daughter of Estelle Edith Parker (d) and Henry Andrew Lawless (d) of Arbyrd, MO. She leaves behind her three sons: Duane, Derek (Shannon) and Kirk (Anne) and four grandsons. Mavis is survived by her siblings Carmeletta Williams of Collierville, Phyllis Webb of Senath, MO, Darrell Lawless of Arbyrd, MO, Janice Strickland of Lake City, AR and Darris "Butch" Lawless of Arbyrd, MO. Her brother Cloys Don Lawless is deceased. Mavis'' husband and lifelong love, Edward "Eddie" Caraway, died four days ago. The family takes comfort that they are together again, for eternity. The funeral will be held at Forest Hill East Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6 with visitation prior, from 12-2 p.m.
