ANNA E. LANIER, 89, passed away February 3, 2013 in Plano, Texas after a long illness. She was a former resident of Bartlett for more than 50 years and retained her longtime membership at Whitten Memorial Baptist Church. As a child, her family moved to the Lucy area, where she attended Millington area schools. Those who loved Anna referred to her by many names: Mama, Mimi, Aunt Anne, and her least favorite, Anna Mae. Until her retirement as a dental assistant at the Memphis Veterans Hospital, she was active in the local Dental Assistants'' Association and served as president at the organization''s state level. She was preceded in death by her husband, H.B. Lanier; parents, Dewitt and Ella Ewing; brothers, Alfred, Dennis, Ellard and Wilford Ewing; sisters, Hazel Flood and Mabel Crawford. She is survived by her son and his wife, David and Patricia Lanier, with whom she had lived since 2006; sister, Betty Oliver; grandson, Jonathan Lanier; granddaughter and her husband, Annette and Matt Taylor; and great-grandson, Ian. Anna is also survived by several generations of nieces, nephews, and cousins who remained in close and loving contact with her. Visitation will be at Forest Hill East, 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 7, with interment at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 8 at Trinity Cemetery in Nutbush, TN.
