Anna Looney of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 17, 2025. Anna was born in Big Sandy, Tennessee on September 13, 1934, to John Newell and Jesse Mae Goforth. Anna was a great sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great-grandmother. She loved sewing, board games, and family dinners. She will be greatly missed by family and friends she touched along life's path. She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia (Chee-Chee) Freeman, Deborah McGregor, Linda White, Audrey Vaughn, and Donna Looney; sisters, Madonna Hainley and Devora Wright; 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 5 great great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by husband, Aubrey Looney, sisters Charlotte Forrest and Naomi Simmons, brother Carlton Goforth, grandson, Phillip Looney, and great grandsons Zachary Clay and Samuel Clay.

The family would like to extend a huge "thank you" to The Burnett family and Hometown Pentecostal Holiness Church for all the prayers, care packages, home cooked meals, love without stipulations, transportation to and from Church with no fail to Mama for years. She loved her Church family so much and everyone made her feel so special. Great job you guys for giving us all an example of the greatest gift of all….LOVE!!!

Anna requested no flowers be sent at the time of her passing. In lieu of flowers, she wants a tree to be planted in her memory because she said "FLOWERS DIE BUT TREES LIVE. SO PLANT LIFE".
