ARCHIE A. WAGES of Fayette County, born April 29, 1936 in Preston, KY passed away at Methodist North Hospital on March 10, 2012 after a brief and sudden illness. A graduate with a bachelor degree in accounting from University of Memphis retired from International Paper and from the Navy with 20 years of service as a Chief Petty Officer. He was a member of Elliston Baptist Church and a Past Master of Lelia Scott Masonic Lodge #118. His passion was painting, music, sports and politics. He is survived by his loving wife Sarah of 48 years; son, Lynn; daughter, Ann and husband Glen Owens; and daughter, Helen Dykes, all of Fayette County; two sisters Sondra Peach of Franklin, TN and Lois Banks of Shelbyville, IN; four grandchildren, Donnie Dykes, Jr, Terry Griffin, Samantha Carroll, and Angie Wood; seven great-grandchildren, Malissa Green, Lauren and Kacie Dykes, Chase, Logan, Amy and Glyndon Carroll; two great-great-grandchildren, Austin and Chloe Green. Preceding him in death were his parents Leonard and Mary Wages and sister, Patricia "Pat" Barrett. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 15 from 5-7 p.m., and memorial service Friday, March 16, 2 p.m. at Forest Hill East Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials be sent to cancer research or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
