Artie Ree Thornton, 75, of Memphis, TN, passed away on September 11, 2015. She retired from Woolworth and was a member of New Life Baptist Church. Mrs. Thornton was the widow of the late, Paul Jerry Thornton. She is survived by two sons, Paul Duel (Wendy) Thornton, Shawn Lee (Mindy) Thornton; daughter, Dottie Tallent; two sisters, Linda (Larry) Malone, Donna (Jeff) Crump; six grandsons, Jeremy (Lori) Tallent, Eric (Alex) Tallent; Joe Thornton, Josh Thornton, Ryan Thornton, Chase Thornton; two great grandsons, Conner Webb, Jordan Tallent. Mrs. Thornton was preceded in death by her brother, Alton Edwards; and her parents, Duel Gane Edwards and Susie Wright Edwards Williams. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, September 16 and service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, September 17 at Forest Hill East Funeral Home with interment following.
