IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Audrey Heath
Henson
August 18, 1942 – February 15, 2024
Audrey Heath Henson, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and pillar of her community, passed away peacefully on February 15th, at the age of 81 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 18th in Ripley, Tennessee, and was the daughter of Willie and Mary Frances Ammons.
Audrey's devotion to her family knew no bounds. She often remarked that her home was her mission field, and indeed, she lived out this belief with unwavering commitment. Throughout her children's lives, she was deeply involved, nurturing and guiding them with boundless love and wisdom. Her home was a sanctuary of love and support, where all who entered were welcomed with open arms and compassionate hearts.
In her local and church communities, Audrey's impact was profound. She worked at Joyland Preschool in her early career and was one of the original members of Whitehaven Assembly or God where she dedicated herself to serving others, working tirelessly at founding the Missionettes program at her church. She sang in the choir and began teaching Sunday School as a teenager. Her leadership extended beyond the local congregation; she served as Missionettes Sectional Director, inspiring countless young women to embrace faith, service, and leadership. She and her husband, Hollis Henson, taught Sunday School together during their marriage and worked as a host couple
for Marriage Encounter.
Audrey's faith was not confined within the walls of her church; it propelled her to action. Alongside her husband, she embarked on mission's trips across the United States, extending care and compassion to communities in need. Audrey's heart overflowed with love for both the MAPS team members and the individuals they served. Her selflessness and dedication left an indelible mark on
all who had the privilege of witnessing her kindness in action.
Audrey is survived by her beloved children and their spouses: Marie Wilson (Wayne), Sherrie Hudson (Stephen), Lisa Shelley (David), Bill Henson (Stacy), and Tracy Tutor (Sean). She leaves behind nine cherished grandchildren: Braxton Purvis (Kortney), Allen Hudson, Becca Bergeron (Michael), Heath Henson, Britton Purvis, Branson Purvis, Grayson Tutor, and Preston Tutor. Audrey also had two great-granddaughters whom she loved dearly, Skyler Purvis and Jordyn Wilson. She is also survived by her sister, Rachel Wooldridge, and her brother, Thomas Ammons, and nieces and nephews. Audrey was preceded in death by her loving husbands, Hollis A. Henson, and William F. Heath (Billy); her grandson, Jonathan Wilson; her parents, Willie D. Ammons, and Mary Frances Ammons.
A celebration of Audrey's life will take place on February 20th, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Collierville, where she was a member. Her family loved ones and friends will gather to honor her memory and legacy of love. Audrey's spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched, the hearts she uplifted, and the love she shared. Though she may no longer walk among us, her light will continue to shine brightly in the lives of all who were blessed to know her.
In lieu of flowers and food, the family requests that donations be made to Collierville First Baptist Church, reflecting Audrey's lifelong commitment to serving others.
