Avola Simmons James, age 89, departed this life on October 3rd, 2023 at her home.

She was a lifelong resident of Bartlett, Tennessee and graduated from Bartlett High School in 1952. She was born September 28, 1934 to John Aver Simmons and Iva Vay Simmons and was a mother of five children and a homemaker. She really enjoyed reading her Bible, sewing, taking care of her home and in earlier years painting. Avola was a faithful parishioners of St. Ann Catholic Church Bartlett.

She is survived by her children: Becky Sevier, Mark James (Carla), Anthony James (Kim), and Andrea Brown, her sister Patsy Binkley (Tommy), seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Tom James and son Will James (Linda) and brother Tommy Simmons.
