Barbara Saunby Dendy, 73, a long-time resident of the Southaven area, earned her angel wings and went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday the 5th of July. She was born on January 3, 1943 in Harrison, AR and moved to the Memphis area in her early years where she attended Messick High School, met and married her husband of 55 years, James (Jim) Gordon Dendy. Barbara had a strong relationship with the Lord and belonged to Getwell Road UMC. She was an active member of the Desoto Civic Garden Club. She led a life full of adventure, fun, friends, family, world travel, and was a lover of all things sparkly. She was proceeded in death by her granddaughter, Hanna Dendy. Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Jim Dendy, her son, Kirk (& Laura) Dendy (Southaven), her daughter, Kim Dendy Mask (Guntown), sister, Cindy Hubbard (MS), brother, John Saunby (NC), 5 remarkable grandchildren - Parker, Cooper, and Jillian Dendy and Joey & Virginia Grace Mask. She also leaves behind a large group of amazing friends whom the family would like to thank for all their help during Barbara''s arduous battle with cancer. Her faith, family, and friends kept her fighting and defying the odds right to the very end. Visitation and burial will be held at Forest Hill South Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 2545 E. Holmes Road, Memphis, TN. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 7th from 5PM - 7PM. Burial will be held Friday, July 8th at 10AM. Barbara requested that all those attending wear something bright, colorful, and sparkly. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Barbara''s honor to St. Jude Children''s Hospital or The Kosten Foundation (research for pancreatic cancer).
