Barbara Jean Key Bishop, 74, of Bartlett, Tennessee went home to her Lord and Savior on Friday, December 18, 2020.

Barbara was born June 6, 1946 in Marianna, Arkansas to James Fred Key and Gertrude Mandy Little Key. She moved to Memphis with her family in 1961 and graduated from Kingsbury High School in 1964. She belonged to the Macon Road Baptist Church youth group where she met and ultimately married the love of her life, Samuel Wayne Bishop on July 9, 1964.

Barbara is preceded in death by her mother and father and her siblings JC, Edward, Charles, Juanita, Frances, Pearlie, and Howard.

Barbara is survived by her spouse, Sam Bishop, children, Shari Bishop, Lisa Chandler (John), Amy McClain (Kenny), grandchildren, Sydni Schaffer (Jack), Will Doss, Jacob Chandler, Hannah Chandler, Grayson Doss, Easton Doss, great-grandson Rowan Schaffer, and siblings Ruby Johnson (Delbert), Sue Maynard, and Jerry Key (Carol).

Barbara and Sam were married for 56 years and lived the last 40 years in Bartlett where she had an active role in the community. Through the years, Barbara has served in many roles such as a Sunday School teacher, GA and Awana leader, Girl Scout Troop Leader, Friend of the Bartlett Library, and active member of her Sunday school group and Senior Adult ministry at Bartlett Baptist Church.

Barbara worked for Sears Catalog Order for 5 years following high school and was later employed by Binswanger Glass Company for over 30 years before retirement.

Some of Barbara's favorite pastimes were watching her grandsons play competitive baseball, attending monthly high school class luncheons, traveling with the Bartlett and Ellendale Baptist senior groups, and attending Southern Gospel concerts with Sam.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Bartlett Baptist Church, 3465 Kirby Whitten Pkwy. The service will be livestreamed on www.BartlettBaptist.org for those that are unable or uncomfortable attending in person. Social distancing and masks will be required for in-person attendance. Burial arrangements will be announced at a later date.
