IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Benjamin Alan
Butler
May 12, 1959 – January 26, 2026
Benjamin Alan Butler, age 66, passed away on January 26, 2026. He was born May 12, 1959, in Tampa, Florida, to the late William Ovid Butler and Margaret Arline McKenzie.
Ben proudly served in the United States Army from 1978 to 1995. His service reflected a life rooted in duty, discipline, and a deep commitment to others. He was an exceptionally talented mechanic and business owner for many years, until he swore he was "officially" retired. True to form, he soon returned to work as a security officer. Ben could never sit still for too long and loved being around people.
His sister, Claudia, says it well: "I would just like for people to know that my brother was a really kind person (even if he tried to hide it sometimes). He really did have a good heart and tried to do the right thing for people. He drove me nuts sometimes, but he had a real sweet disposition even as a young kid."
Ben was a loving husband to Aesun Christina Butler, a devoted father to Benjamin Lee Butler, and a cherished brother to Claudia Geniton (the late Dan Geniton), Butch Butler (Debra Butler), Bruce Butler, Carol Parr, and the late Jan Steurer.
In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated, and no formal service will be held. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Tennessee State Veterans Home at https://tsvh.org/donate/.
