Bessie Latham Haynes-Peery

On February 29, 1944, Bessie Pearl Latham was born to parents Virgie Mae nee Boyette and Lester Latham in Calhoun City, Mississippi.

After high school, she married Ollie Wendell Haynes and had three children, Lester Nathan, Markus Wendell, and Theresa Dawn and lived in Clarksdale, Mississippi. After going through their divorce, they remained living in Clarksdale, Mississippi until her daughter graduated high school in 1988 when she, Les, and Theresa moved to Memphis, Tennessee. Mark had married Liz Rybolt and they remained in the family home in Clarksdale, Mississippi.

Within a few years after moving to Memphis, Tennessee, she had met and remarried her husband, Alan W. Peery. They were very happy together and loved each other very much. They spent everyday together and enjoyed a fun, adventurous life together. He retired a few years ago in order to devote his time to her when her health had declined to the point that she needed constant help.

Bessie Latham Haynes-Peery leaves behind her son and daughter-in-law Mark and Liz Haynes and her grandson Jonathan Rybolt and his wife Ashley, great-grandchildren Lillie Bennett Rybolt (10), Landry Rybolt (6), Jon Haynes Rybolt (5), and Remi Rybolt (1), grandson Taylor Haynes and his wife Anna, great-grandchildren Lyza Haynes (6), and Bo Haynes (4), and grandson Colby Haynes. She also leaves behind her daughter Theresa and son-in-law Tommy Austein and her grandchildren Taylor Dawn Austein (19) and Tabitha Jordan Austein (16).

She also leaves behind a stepdaughter Lisa Risner and her former husband Ray Risner, step-granddaughter Cheyenne Risner, step-great-grandchildren Bryden (12) and Zylas (8). After their divorce, Lisa remarried Barry Jenkins and they had her step-grandson, Kyle Jenkins. She also leaves behind step-grandson Logan Alan Risner and step-great-grandchildren Avery Risner and Ansley Risner.

She was preceded in death by her son, Les Haynes. She fought a long, hard battle never giving up until it was time for her to be reunited with him on January 11, 2022.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 1:00 pm at: Forest Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park
