Betty Lou Hicks Gatewood was born on May 14, 1931, to the late Clyde Walton Hicks and Gladys Burnett Hicks.  Betty went to be with her Lord on July 6, 2019, at the age of 88, surrounded by her family. Betty enjoyed and admired her family.  She also enjoyed her hobbies of gardening, crocheting and the Memphis Grizzles. On June 28, 1958, in Hernando, Mississippi, she married the man that would be her greatest blessing of 61 years, Mr. William D. Gatewood. She leaves to cherish the fondest memories to her husband Mr. William D. Gatewood. Also, left to cherish the life and certainly the legacy to her children, Karen Leamon (Charles), Chuck Gatewood (Cathy), Harold Gatewood, Bill Gatewood and Teresa Gatewood Thomley (Paul); Grandchildren, Rachael Leamon, Marsha Brewer, Rena Wilson, Maisie Dowdy, Ashley Gatewood, Brandon Gatewood, Christopher Thomley, Richard Travis Thomley and Kimberly Thomley; Great Grandchildren, Jeremy Robledo, Adam Robledo, Jaxon Gatewood, Marshall Thomley, Camryn Thomley, all making way for Baby Brewer and Baby Thomley and a brother Bobby J. Hicks. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Clyde Walton Hicks, Jr. and two grandsons, Jonathan R. Leamon and Caleb R. Dowdy. The family has requested your presence at a Visitation Service to be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, from 1 pm until Funeral Service at 2 pm with burial to follow, all at Forest Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery – East 2440 Whitten Road.
