Southaven - Bettie Ann Hill Wheat, 71, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2014. Bettie was born in Gadsden, AL and graduated from Bishop Toolen High School in Mobile, AL. She married Frank Wheat in 1962 and relocated to the Memphis area in 1963. She coached girls softball and football cheerleaders while her sons were in Jr. High. Once the Riverkings moved to Desoto County she was a regular season ticket holder. Bettie was preceded in death by her companion of 46 years, Frank; a younger brother, Kenneth Hill and older sister, Joy Harper. She is survived by two sons: Frank A. Wheat, Jr. and James L. Wheat; Brothers: James Hill, Carl Hill and Dan Hill; one sister, Helen Boyd; also her best friend of 50 years, Linda Joyce Green. Per Bettie''s request, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children''s Research Hospital of Memphis. Visitation will be from 12:30 - 2 p.m. Saturday, November 22 at Forest Hill South with graveside service to follow in Forest Hill South''s Cemetery.
