Obituary

Betty Jane Gresham Blackburn, 88, went to be with the Lord on April 8, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Ted Blackburn; her parents, Carrie Reed Gresham and Clay W. Gresham; her sister, Dorothy J. Wiggins and her brother, Robert L. Gresham. She is survived by her three daughters, Sharon (George) Jennings of Cordova, TN, Susan (Mike) Paysinger of Germantown, TN and Cindi (Gail) Roane of Collierville, TN; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She graduated from Southside High School in 1945. She was a charter member of Oakhaven Methodist Church and, since 1987, a member of Germantown Baptist Church. She was a volunteer at St. Jude Children''s Research Hospital for over 20 years; a lifetime member of the St. Jude Auxiliary and the Ladies of St. Jude. She was chosen as a Thousand Points of Light for her volunteer work and was honored by President George H.W. Bush in 1989. She served as the secretary for FASRON 795 Naval Squadron that was reactivated during the Korean War. She also helped with writing a book on the history of FASRON 795, which is in a museum in Bermuda at the Royal Dock Yards. Visitation will be from 12-1 pm on Friday April 15, 2016 with a funeral service to follow at 1:00; all at Germantown Baptist Church. Private interment will follow in Forest Hill Midtown Cemetery. The family requests that any memorials be sent to St. Jude Children''s Research Hospital.
