Betty Johnson Owens, 88, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 2:30 AM after a short illness.  She was at Methodist Germantown Hospital at the time of her death.  She was born in Memphis, TN on April 3, 1930 to the late Herman and Naomi Johnson.  A former resident of Memphis, Mrs. Owens was a homemaker, an avid ornthologist, a gardener that loved tending to her garden, and was especially loving of her family.  She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 68 years, Gerald R. Owens, Sr.; a son, Gerald R. Owens, Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Kari Blaho-Owens; a brother, Herman Allen Johnson and his wife, Susan; a sister, Sarah Dunlap and her husband, Robert; and a grandson, James Andrew "Drew" Owens.  Visitation for Mrs. Owens will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 Saturday, April 7, 2018 with funeral services to follow at 2:00.  Services are entrusted to Forest Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park, East Chapel, 2440 Whitten Road, Memphis, TN, 38133.
