Betty Sue Maynard was born July 21, 1940 in Marianna, Arkansas to Fred and Gertrude Mandy (Little) Key. She died on September 4, 2021 in Memphis, Tennessee. Sue is survived by her four children: Sally Damron, Keely Damron Koon, Hiram Maynard and Harriet Burton. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Zachary Maynard (Cady), Mary Alice Koon, Chandler Koon, Morgan Burton, Matthew Burton
and Sam Burton. Sue had six great-grandchildren. Sue was proceeded in death by her husband of 47 years, Ernest C. Maynard.

Sue was interested in her family history and helped start the Key Family Reunion. She was the ninth of eleven children and loved spending time with her siblings. She is survived by sister Ruby Johnson (Delbert) and brother Jerry Key (Carol). Siblings who proceeded her in death are: J.C. Key, Edward Key, Charles Key, Juanita Bailey, Frances McGee, Pearlie Wooten, Howard Key and Barbara Bishop.

Sue worked for years in the insurance industry in Memphis and retired as Comptroller for Brown and Associates Insurance. She was an avid reader and was a founding member of the Bartlett Friends of the Library and served as a Board Member for several years. Sue was a member of Ellendale Baptist Church and a former member of Wells Station Baptist Church. Sue loved to dance and enjoyed music of all types – especially Elvis.

Graveside visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with service at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 10, 2021 at Forest Hill East Funeral Home on 2440 Whitten Road Memphis TN 38133. Graveside service will be led by Dr. Fred Shackleford, Pastor of Ellendale Baptist Church.
