Betty Jean Simpson, age 77, of Ashland, MS, went to her Heavenly home on Saturday, October 7, 2023.  Her husband, Robert, of almost 39 years, was by her side. She was born on August 22, 1946, in Enville, TN, to Ohlen and Dora Mae Johnson.  Betty married Robert on October 20, 1984, at First Baptist Church in Southaven, MS.

In her early years, Betty was a Memphis City School secretary, hospital administrative assistant, court reporter, wife, and loving Mother.  In later years she left the workforce to travel with her husband in his work.  They enjoyed traveling and living in different places, before retiring to Lamar, MS, building their dream home on family land, where they liked watching deer and wildlife, fishing in their pond, and admiring their beautiful property.

Betty, with her husband, was a member of the Ashland Baptist Church. She had a beautiful smile, gracious kindness, and infectious laughter - she could light up a room.  Betty will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her.   She loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, family and her longtime girlfriends (Tricia, Shirley, Deborah, and Sandra).

She leaves behind her husband, Robert; daughter Shelia Littlejohn Neri; son Ragan Littlejohn (Amanda); stepdaughter Amy Burns (Brett); and stepson Chris Simpson; grandchildren Christopher Neri, Carmela Neri, Hayden Simpson, Colt Littlejohn, Ida Mae Littlejohn, Blake Burns, and Luke Burns.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Ohlen Troy and Dora Mae Johnson and her sister, Linda Knight.

Visitation will be held at Forest Hill Funeral Home, 2440 Whitten Road, Memphis, TN on Friday, October 13, 2023, where the family will receive friends from 9-10, with service immediately following with Bro. Rick Cisowski officiating.  Interment will follow at Forest Hill South, 2545 East Holmes Road, Memphis, TN at 12.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Betty's name to your favorite charity.
