Betty Jean Snyder Elam, 80, claimed the victory over death in Christ Jesus on December 7, 2013. First born daughter of George Dewey and Myrtle Moore Snyder, she graduated from Bartlett High School and attended Freed-Hardeman College in Henderson, Tennessee. She married the love of her life, Arthur T. Elam, and made their home in Shelby County and Desoto County until his death in 1993. She invested generously in the lives of many people. She is survived by her sisters, Joanne Knight (John), Janice Foster (Hal); daughter, Amy Elam Braden (Art); two grandchildren, Lydia Glover (Grant) and Wyatt Braden, and a host of nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to visit Tuesday, December 10, 6-8 p.m. and celebrate her life Wednesday, December 11 at 2 p.m., both at Goodman Oaks Church of Christ, Southaven, MS. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Freed-Hardeman University and HopeWorks.
