Bettye Ruth Crocker, 93, of Bartlett, TN went to be with the Lord Friday, January 20, 2017. Mrs. Crocker was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-six years, Gordon Crocker; parents, Herbert and Trixie Williams; brother, Dawson Williams; and sister, Kathryn Courtney. She is survived by her son, Tom Crocker(Paula); daughter, Becky Yarbrough(John); grandchildren: Nathan Crocker(Tara), Ashley Swift(Jeff), Lindsay Walker(Bobby), Amy Ward(Brad), Emily Jones(Josh), Micah Yarbrough(Kim), and Steven Yarbrough(Gabe); nineteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Crocker was a graduate of Union University and went on to get her master''s degree from Southwestern Theological Seminary. Mr. and Mrs. Crocker served as Southern Baptist foreign missionaries in Ecuador. Mrs. Crocker served as the pastor''s wife at Leaclair Baptist Church in Memphis. She also served along side her husband for twenty-three years as director of missions for the Mid-South Baptist Association. Mrs. Crocker served several churches as educational director/children''s minister. She was an active member of Baptist women''s and girl''s missions organizations. She also served as a trustee of the Tennessee Baptist Children''s Home. Mrs. Crocker also taught English as a second language. She organized and started a fellowship for retired Baptist ministers and their wives in the Mid-South. Mrs. Crocker leaves a legacy of Christ''s love, faith, and service for everyone that knew her and especially her family. A visitation will be held Tuesday, January 24, 2017 from 10-11 am with a funeral service to follow at 11:00; both will be held at Balmoral Baptist Church on Kirby Rd. in Memphis. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park, East on Whitten Rd. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Jack May Missions Fund of the Mid-South Baptist Association.
