Billy D. Allen, Sr., 84, died on Tuesday morning, December 1, 2015 at the VAMC. Billy was born in Paris, TN on October 22, 1931. He was preceded in death by the late George Tedro Allen and Madeline Goodfellow Allen Maxwell. Mr. Allen was a graduate of Tech High School, class of 1950. He was a Marine during the Korean War, and served as a hydraulics specialist aboard the USS Bennington and the USS Coral Sea Aircraft Carrier. He was a Mason with the Scottish Rite, a member of Unity Lodge 95, member of the VFW, member of the Al Chymia Shrine Temple in the Clown Unit and the Memphis Coin Club. He served as a Cub Scout Leader for three years, and as Scout Master of Troop 271 for many years. He was employed by Frisco/ Burlington Northern RR for 45 years, and also served as Chairman of the BRAC Union. Mr. Allen was married to June E. Allen who preceded him in death. He is survived by his three children, Billy Allen, Jr. (Ginger), Judy Carol Goodwin and Pamela June WalkerÍ three grandchildren, Jamie Goodwin, Jeff Goodwin and Justin WalkerÍ and two brothers, Fred Allen of Memphis and Ronnie Maxwell of MS. A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 6, 2015 from 5-7:00 pm with funeral services to be held on Monday, December 7 beginning at 2:00 pm, all at Forest Hill Funeral Home, East, 2440 Whitten Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to Al Chymia Shrine Temple or to the American
Cancer Society.
