Billy Gene Brooks died Friday, February 26, 2016 in Jacksonville, FL. Bill was born to Lee & Ruby Brooks on September 2, 1929. He served in the US Navy (1947-1950) and was a Lieutenant for the Memphis Police Department (1951-1980). After retiring from MPD, he worked for Tennessee Valley Authority in the security department (1980-1992). He was a member of Eudora Baptist Church and, later, Colonial Park Baptist Church before moving to Jacksonville. Bill loved to water-ski and played golf every chance he got! He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Aleta, his children, David Brooks & Laura Knowles. He also has 4 grandchildren whom he adored, Jenni & Michael Brooks and Taylor & Madison Knowles and 2 great-grandchildren, Noah & Zoey. On Friday, March 4, the family will receive friends at 1 pm at Forest Hill Funeral Home East with a funeral service following at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor''s choice.
