BILLY WAYNE COMPTON, 69, passed away September 30, 2013 unexpectedly at his home. He was a graduate of Bartlett High School and retired from MLG&W after 28 years of service. Billy was an avid fisherman, known to many as the "Crappie King" and spent most days on the lake doing what he loved. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Margaret "Peggy" Compton; daughter, Michele Melton (Richard), and son, Billy Compton, Jr. (Candi). He also leaves behind his mother, Lillie Mae Compton; brother, Jimmy Compton; sister, Betty Jo Dooley; 10 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, OD Compton and sister, Cathy Moore. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Friday, October 4, and service at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 5, both at Forest Hill East Funeral Home, (901)382-1000.
