Billy Jim Grammer, 85, formerly of Eads, TN, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 29 th in Bartlett, TN.
Billy was born on July 7, 1937 to James Grammer and Elizabeth Bowie Grammer in Ripley, TN. He proudly served his country in the US Army from 1961 to 1962 in peacetime Germany, and guarded the Berlin Wall as part of his duties. He continued to serve in the Army Reserves until 1966.
Billy married Barbara Sue Witt on April 11, 1964 and they were blessed with 58 years of marriage. They enjoyed camping, boating, travel and trips to the beach together, and both served faithfully for many years at C ornerstone Church in Bartlett , where they built lifelong friendships.
Billy worked most of his career as a technician for Eastman Kodak, from which he retired, but continued working in microfilm, running his own business, Technical Services, until 2018. In his spare time, Billy enjoyed deer hunting and owned several horses throughout his life.
Billy was one of 9 children and was very close to his siblings, their spouses and many nieces and nephews. He was well loved by his in-laws, the Witt family, and was a contender for everyone's favorite uncle. He was a loving father to his daughter Lesa , and his son Greg.
