Billy Wayne Porter, age 76 departed to his heavenly home December 31, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. at his residence in Byhalia, Ms. Billy is survived by his wife Sharon Porter of Byhalia, Ms. They were married 48 wonderful years, 2 sons, Steve Porter & Kris, of Walls, Ms. and Keith Porter & Cindy of Southaven, Ms., 1 Brother, Marshall Porter of Southaven, and 1 Sister, Maxine Hutchins of Byhalia, Ms. Along with 6 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his Son, Shannon L Porter, his mother Gladys Porter and his dad Wilton Porter.

Before he became sick as a family he enjoyed camping and fishing with his family, and deer hunting with his boys and his best friend Richard. Billy and his family enjoyed watching football and NASCAR on TV. He enjoyed raising cows and being involved with his dad and mother as they raised cows together. He loved riding his John Deere tractor to get his garden ready each year for planting and love to work out in his yard in the summer, making sure everything was cut and trimmed. He raised and sold rabbits dressed and ready to cook for years. Before and after he got sick and his wife retired Billy enjoyed taking trips to the mountains, and on some days just getting out and taking long rides together.

He retired from P.I.E. trucking and worked for several other truck lines. He last retired as a business owner of B & S Cartage trucking, when he became sick. He was also a 1959 graduate of Southside High School, and was an active member in the ROTC. He was a member of the Masons in Byhalia, he coached Little League Baseball 4 years, and was a member of Abundant Grace Ministries Church, in Collierville, Tn., he had a great deal of love for his pastor Bro. Wier and his wife Kathy. He would often make the comment to his wife "I can understand things the way Bro. Wier preaches. Billy will be missed very much by his family and friends.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, January 6 at Forest Hill South with service Saturday at 10:00 am. Burial will be in Forest Hilll South Cemetery: 901-346-3250
