Obituary


Bobby Jack Spears, Sr., "Paw", 94 of Olive Branch, MS and formerly of Memphis, TN passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Methodist Hospice Residence. Bobby was born in Grenada, MS to the late Isaac and Ruby Spears. He was a World War II veteran, serving in Italy with the 4185th Army Air Forces Base Unit. Bobby had a 40 year career with the United States Postal Service before retiring in 1986. After his retirement from the United States Postal Service, he worked for FedEx, retiring in 1995.

Bobby was a long time member of Broadway Baptist Church and a longtime member of VFW. He loved to work in the garden and treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bobby leaves behind three children, Bobby Jack Spears, Jr., Melandia Crossnine (Don), and Jeffrey Briscoe Spears (Karen); five grandchildren, Jackie Stark (Peter), Steven Crossnine (Amy), Kimberly Thoma (Michael), Jeremy Spears and Brandy Jolliff (Dan); Seven great grandchildren, Kayla and Nicholas Stark, Ethan and Lindsey Crossnine, Henry Thoma and Savannah and River Jolliff and a host of neices, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Frances Briscoe Spears, two sons Jimmie David Spears and Michael Barry Spears; two sisters Marie Portera and Ruth Pitcock; three brothers JD, William and Hubert Spears.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 10 am until Funeral Service at 11 am, both at Forest Hill Funeral home East 2440 Whitten Road. Burial Services will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens at 2pm.

The Spears family would like to express our sincere Thanks to Bobby's longtime caregiver and grandson Jeremy Spears and the entire team at Unity Healthcare & Hospice and Methodist Hospice Residence for their loving care of our Dad and the loving support that they extended to our family.
