Surrounded by his children, Brower E. Higgs, age 95, of Memphis passed from this life on Friday, January 19th at Crossroads Hospice - St. Francis Hospital.

One of six children, "Brower" was born in Wayne County, Indiana. He was a WWII Veteran – Army Medic and held memberships at both Schoolfield Methodist and Bartlett Methodist Church. After transfer from the International Harvester plant in Indiana, he served as comptroller of the Memphis and New Orleans plants from 1956 until his retirement in 1982 and then worked with Shelby County Juvenile Court until 2009.

Brower is predeceased by his parents, Brower, Sr. and Cloey Higgs, his wife of 41 years, Marcella Burdette Higgs; brothers David, Charles and Marvin Higgs, sister Aleta Stetler and great grandson Cayson (Higgs) Turnmire. He is survived by wife of 32 years, Sue Lax Higgs; brother Paul Higgs (Debbie) Richmond, IN; daughters Donna Burdett (Larry) Nashville, TN; Joyce Wooten (Bob), Soddy Daisy, TN; stepdaughter, Gay Lax Allgood (Charles) Cordova, TN. Sons Gary Higgs (Dianne) Millington, TN; Bill Higgs, San Diego, CA and stepsons Randy Lax (Alecia) Lakeland, TN; Steve Lax (Pamela), Jackson, TN. He also leaves 17 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be January 26th at 9:30 a.m. at Forest Hill Funeral Home-East on Whitten Road with services to follow. Memorials may be sent to Church by the Side of the Road (4260 St. Rd 227, Middleboro, IN 47374, Wounded Warriors or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
