B.W. "Buddy" Malone, 77, of Memphis passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016 from complications from pneumonia. Buddy was born on June 29, 1938, the 6th of eight children born to Jessie & Dimple Malone in Tishomingo, Mississippi. He graduated from Tishomingo High School. He then enlisted in the US Army where he served 3 years in Pennsylvania before moving to Memphis, Tennessee. Buddy was an electrician and a member of the IBEW#474. It was during this time he met the love of his life, Ms. Kay Ray. They were married on July 19, 1963. After graduating, he worked for 16 years as a union electrician. He then worked for The City of Memphis Traffic Signal Shop for 28 years. He retired in the summer of 2004. During these years, he and Kay raised two boys. Even before retirement, he, Kay and the boys all traveled extensively throughout the USA. After retiring, "Mr. Buddy" and "Mrs. Kay" expanded their travels to the rest of the world. He was a long-time fan of Memphis State Basketball as well as a member and greeter at New Hope Christian Church. He was a Past Master and member of Desoto Rite. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kay and his sons, Michael and Mark, all from Memphis. He leaves two sisters, Carolyn Page and Linda Starkey of Tishomingo along with many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday May 14, at Forest Hill - East, 2440 Whitten Road, Memphis, TN, 38133 with funeral services immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Buddy Malone to St. Jude Children''s Research Hospital.
