Obituary

Calvin Forrest Prince, Jr., 74, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, October 31, 2022, at his residence in Southaven, MS.

His funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at Forest Hill Funeral Home-East located at 2440 Whitten Rd., with visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Kerry Nelson will be officiating the service. Graveside service will be held at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at 1:00 p.m.

Mr. Prince leaves behind his wife, Sandra Flack Prince of Southaven, MS; stepson, Danny (Amy) Flack of Olive Branch, MS, daughter, Allison Braddock of Olive Branch, MS, and son, Patrick Prince; grandchildren, Kayla Flack of Horn Lake, MS, Kayce Flack and Connor Flack, both of Olive Branch, Andrew Braddock and Daniel Braddock, both of Olive Branch; great granddaughters, Presley and Raya, both of Horn Lake; two sisters, Beulah (Nick) Love of Crockett Mills, TN, and Patricia (Jack) Stewart of Corinth, MS; and a beloved sister-in-law, Helen Prince of Brownsville, TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin Forrest Prince, Sr., and Flora Carothers Prince; two brothers, James Prince and John Calvin Prince; and one sister, Carolyn Prince Jackson.

Mr. Prince was born in Brownsville, TN, on August 14, 1948, to Calvin and Flora Prince , and grew up in Brownsville with his three sisters , two brothers, and a h ost of other family members. He graduated from college at the University of Tennessee in Martin and went on to get his Master of Science degree from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

He worked for the Shelby County Government and oversaw the farming operations and grounds keeping at Shelby Farms. He also served active duty in the Army for two years. He then went on to serve in the Tennessee National Guard for over 30 years, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Mr. Prince and his beloved wif e of 28 years, Sandra, loved to go camping and fishing together. Through the years, they made innumerable trips to Enid Lake, where they set up their camper and invited all family members that could to come and join them. Calvin loved being with his family and cherished all the memories made at Enid and other family events. He was active on Crappie.com, especially the Mississippi forum. Mr. Prince also loved his Ole Miss Rebels and enjoyed watching them play football every Saturday. He saw the Rebels play o ne more time on Saturday evening, before he passed away on Monday afternoon.
