Carl "Bob" Edwin Osborne, Jr., 85, of Germantown TN, went home to be with the Lord, his wife Pat, and son Andrew on Friday, September 17. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 27, 2021 at 12:00pm, until the start of the memorial service at 1:00pm at Oak Lane Christian Church (10611 Collierville Rd, Collierville, TN 38017). Following the service the burial will be at Forest Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery East, 2440 Whitten Road, Memphis, TN 38133. Carl was born on June 13, 1936 in Paducah KY to Carl E Osborne Sr, and Mary L Osborne. In August of 1954 he joined the US Army with his older brother Thomas. After training, the brothers were assigned to the Ordinance Guided Missile School at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville AL, where Carl met the love of his life Patricia Davis. After leaving the Army in 1957 Carl attended Auburn University and then on December 5, 1958 he married Patricia. Carl and Patricia had three children, Leah Ann, Carl III, and Andrew. Nearly five years after Patricia's death in 2016, Carl again found love with Marion Matsu, and they were married on May 27, 2021.
Carl was known and loved for his strong faith, commitment to family, tireless work ethic, generosity, keen intellect, and witty sense of humor.
In the early 1970s Carl invented the ECG format translator that led to the software that Datamed LLC still sells today. He was a trustee and charter member of Oak Lane Christian Church (formerly East Win Christian Church). He was also a member of the board, major benefactor, and passionate lifelong supporter of Mid-South Christian College (MSCC). In recognition of his many years of service MSCC awarded him an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters at an invocation ceremony on Aug 13, 2021, which he considered one of the crowning achievements of his life. Carl is survived by his wife Marion Osborne; daughter Leah Ann Kelley (Tom), son Carl Osborne III (Susan); grandchildren Brittany Piegari (Nick), April Osborne (Sungho Chun), Noah Kelley, Katie Mayer, Morgan Osborne, Olivia Osborne, Alexandra Osborne, Walker Matsu Cable; brothers Tom Osborne (Arlene), Jim Osborne (Carol), David Osborne (Brenda); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Carl was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Patricia Davis Osborne, and his son Andrew Davis Osborne.
