Carolyn Elizabeth Akins Hayes was born on August 16, 1931, and passed from this life to be with her Lord on December 25, 2023.

Carolyn was born and raised in Ripley, Mississippi, and graduated from Ripley High School. She moved to Memphis to work at Park Davis Pharmaceutical and was introduced to her future husband, Floyd Hayes, while working there.

Floyd and Carolyn were married in 1954 and had a wonderful marriage for 59 years, raising four sons. Carolyn loved gardening and had quite a green thumb. She was a great cook, frequently trying new recipes for family and guests.

Carolyn was known for her hospitality to all. She enjoyed hosting dinners and gatherings for friends, family and fellow church members.

Church was a significant part of Carolyn's life and she was a faithful member at Forest Hill Church of Christ (formerly Knight Arnold Church). She was a devout believer and elder's wife. She was a shining example of the Christian values of love, compassion and kindness.

Carolyn was passionate about keeping in touch with and seeing family. She made every member of the family feel special. She was a fantastic Mamaw to her 8 grandchildren, and they have many fond memories of spending time with her growing up. All who knew her will miss her.

Her husband Floyd and son Alan Hayes preceded Carolyn in death. She is survived by her sons Paul (Debby), Grant (Laura), and Daniel, and her daughter-in-law Rebekah Hayes. She is also survived by eight grandchildren Serena Diehm(Nathan), Maggie Hayes Mitchell (Hunter), Alex Hayes (Nicole), Valerie Butts (Dan), Sarah Hayes, Andy Hayes, Ayden Hayes and Layna Hayes. She also leaves 10 great grandchildren.
