Cecelia Bonita
Graves
Jun 29, 1941 — Mar 13, 2021
It is with great sadness that the family of Cecelia Bonita Botto Graves announces her passing on March 13, 2021 at the age of 79. She was born on June 29,1941 in Memphis,TN where she resided most of her life before moving to Germantown, TN.
Cecelia possessed a contagious smile and was liked by everyone. She was full of life and loved to dance, play tennis, and spend time with family. After graduating from Southside High School in 1959, she attended Patricia Stevens Modeling School, and worked at Murdock Printing Company. Her faith was always important to her. Every room in their home had multiple pictures of Jesus. She attended both Assembly of God and Central Church. The Lords Day was her favorite day. She would spend her morning at church and cherished her Sunday afternoons spent browsing antique shops with her husband Wray.
Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family and friends carried her through her later years as she faced debilitating health struggles. Cecelia was the most strong-willed woman on earth! She always knew what she wanted and, for those that knew her well, there was no chance of ever changing her mind. Everything she did was with intensity and determination and that will carried her through the difficult times. Her greatest joy was spending time with her husband of 58 years, two daughters, and six grandchildren. Cecelia and Wray's endless commitment and dedication to each other will always be remembered and her unique sense of humor through all the highs and lows leaves a legacy of countless "Noni" stories that her family hold especially dear.
This new chapter of eternal life brings her to a wonderful place where she can get back to socializing, dancing, uncontrollable laughter, and of course shopping until her heart is content. We can picture her now entering the gates of heaven asking God if she can bring along a few antiques and the clothes from just one of her many closets to share with her fellow angels. On a serious note, this woman who loved life is now safely in the arms of her Father and will be forever missed.
Cecelia is preceded in death by her parents, Eugenia and David Botto. She is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Wray Lynwood Graves of Germantown, TN, two daughters Heather Riley (Daniel) of Cumming, GA and Paige Elliott (Mike) of Eden Prairie, MN, and 6 grandchildren Addison, Zack, Will, Blake, Luke, and Gage. She is also lovingly remembered by her two sisters, Marlise Holmes (Jim), Linda Norton (Harry), her niece, Kellie Fancher, and her nephew, David Fancher (Gina), and great-nephews Nicholas and Nathan.
The family will be holding a private service on March 24 at Forest Hill Memorial Park-East.
