Cecil Edwards, 95, was born on May 20, 1924 in Hanceville, AL.  He was the oldest of three children of Charlie and Maudie Edwards.  Cecil was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel, his parents, one sister, Juanita Caldwell and daughter, Barbara Murdaugh.

He is survived by his brother, Lalon Edwards and sister in law Mary Edwards, son in law, Charles Murdaugh, two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Cecil proudly served in the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater on the Island of New Guinea and the Philippines.

He will be surely missed by all who knew him.  Cecil had such a selfless nature always there for anyone who needed help in any way.  He truly loved his family.

In lieu of flowers the family request any memorial donations be made in his honor to St Jude's Children's hospital or a charity of the donor's choice.  Forest Hill Funeral Home East has been entrusted with his care and the family will have a private graveside service on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Forest Hill Memorial Park and Cemetery on Holmes Road.
