IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charlene Smith
Colclasure
August 30, 1927 – January 17, 2026
Charlene Smith Colclasure was born on August 30, 1927, in Gilt Edge, Tennessee, to William Less Smith and Laverne Sloan Smith. She was a devoted member of Great Oaks Church of Christ and retired from Globe Union Battery. Charlene loved cooking, gardening, and staying active; she exercised five days a week at the Bartlett Senior Center and began each morning having breakfast with her friends at McDonald's. She often said that keeping busy was the key to staying young.
She is survived by her sister, Carol Smith Nelms (Johnny) of Irwinville, Georgia; stepchildren Faith Groves of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, John Colclasure (Carol) of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Steve Colclasure (Linda) of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and Carolyn Watts (Brian) of Orange, California; niece Gwen Smith Freeman (David) of Millington, Tennessee; nephews Allan Smith (Tommie) of Oakland, Tennessee, Gary Smith of Savannah, Tennessee, Jody Smith (Tee) of Atoka, Tennessee, and Jon Smith (Brooke) of Millington, Tennessee; and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ford Colclasure, her first husband Horace Grimes, her sister Gwendolyn Twisdale, brothers Maurice Smith and Billy Smith, and stepson James Colclasure. Charlene will be remembered for her strong faith, her joyful energy, and her dedication to family and community.
