Lake Cormorant - Charles Edwin Dowdy, Sr., 80, passed away on August 20, 2014. Mr. Dowdy was born in Fayette County, TN. He retired after 41 years from ICRR where he worked as a Yardmaster and also was a member of the service club. He was active in youth sports and loved to hunt, fish and tend his garden. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Dovie Dowdy and grandson, Michael Dowdy. He leaves his wife of 59 years, Betty Glover Dowdy, three children: Janet DeStefanis (Ricky), Charles Edwin Dowdy, Jr. (Sandra), Kenneth Dowdy (Tina); seven grandchildren: Brady DeStefanis, Amanda Littlejohn, Matthew, Taylor and Josh Dowdy, Ashley and Andrew Dowdy; four great-grandchildren: Stella and Luke Littlejohn, Kylie Smith and Jackson Dowdy; 2 brothers and 4 sisters. Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, August 24 at Forest Hill South with service at 10 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Autumn Woods Cemetery in Olive Branch. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to ALS Association, www.alsa.org.
