Obituary

Charles Fuller passed into the loving arms of Jesus quietly and peacefully on Sunday morning September 15, 2024, at his home in Cordova, TN.  He was born on November 4, 1935, to Charlie and Verda Fuller in Annona, Texas.  As a boy, his dad moved the family to Panama to work for the Panama Canal. This was a great adventure for Charles as Panama was very different from East Texas. He relished telling stories of how he, and his brother Jerry, would explore the jungles around their house and the many animals they would capture and bring home as "pets"—his mom was a saint.  It was while he was living in Panama that he gave his life to Christ which led to his next great adventure—living life in the Kingdom of God.

When the family returned to east Texas, Charles went to high school at Hooks Texas where he met, and later married, the love of his life Nita Ramsey. They were together for over 70 years and had two children Chuck (deceased) and Paula (living in Germantown, TN).

Shortly after high school Charles joined the Navy where he specialized in avionics. His 20 years with the navy took him, Nita and the family to duty posts in California, Georgia, Washington state, Japan and Millington, TN where Charles retired in 1972. Upon his retirement from the Navy Charles became the bus and youth minister for the Millington TN Church of Christ. Under Charles' ministry the congregation's Joy buses transported hundreds of children and families to church each week and was one of the largest bus ministry programs in the churches of Christ.

In 1985 Charles became the Assistant Administrator, and later the Administrator of the Mid-South Christian Nursing Home.  He retired from that position in 1998.  After this retirement he enjoyed doing volunteer work through his church, spending time with the love of his life Nita, and taking his granddaughter Madalyn Brown fishing and going to her lacrosse games and school events.

Charles is survived by his wife Nita, daughter Paula Brown, son-in-law Bill Brown, granddaughter Madalyn Brown, sister Sue Henderson and a host of nieces and nephews and friends who he also considered family. He is predeceased by his son Chuck, parents Charlie and Verda, brother Jerry and sister June Robinson.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Cordova Community Church and Hope Works of Memphis.
