Obituary

Charles "Gaylon" Harlow, 86, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2013 at Baptist Memorial Hospital. He was a veteran of World War II, and had recently visited Germany with the Forever Young organization for the first time since serving there during the war. He started Paramount Uniform in 1974 and owned and managed it until his retirement in 1995. He was a long-time member of Leawood Baptist Church, where he served as Chairman of the Deacons, and was currently a beloved member of Leawood East Baptist from its formation in 2002. He loved his church and was always a devoted worker in it. He also loved the farm life, and maintained cattle and horses on his property in Mississippi during his early retirement years. He greatly loved his grandkids, and was greatly loved by them. He was born in Pontotoc, MS to the late Lester and Annie Harlow. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Ernestine Harlow. He leaves two sons, Danny Harlow (Karen) of Lakeland, and Mickey Harlow (Jan) of Collierville; a sister Mavis Robbins of Pontotoc, MS; six grandchildren, Hannah Stephenson (Daniel), Ruthanne Harlow, Caroline Harlow, Tracey Arrowwood (Tanner), Emily Weaver (Kip), Brandon Harlow and one great-grandchild, Harlow Grace Stephenson. Visitation will be Monday, September 23 from 5-7 p.m. and the service will be Tuesday, September 24 at 12 noon, both held at Leawood Baptist Church, 3638 Macon Rd., Memphis. Burial in Forest Hill Cemetery, 2440 Whitten Rd. The family requests any memorials be made to Leawood East Baptist Church, 1620 N. Houston Levee Rd., Memphis TN 38016.
