Obituary

In Loving Memory of Charles Wayne Lackey

Charles Wayne Lackey, age 82, of Horn Lake, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026, at the home where he resided with his family, John and Melissa McCall, along with Aidan Green. Vivian Sue Hathcock was with him for 33 years, they adored each other, they were best friends until her passing in 2020.

Wayne was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose warmth and humor touched everyone he met. He was truly the life of the party, always ready with a joke that could brighten any room and lift the spirits of those around him. Beyond his quick wit, Wayne was a deeply caring and loyal man. If he loved you, he stood by your side through every season of life. He was an avid lover of Western movies and enjoyed recording his favorite Westerns so he could watch them again and again. He also loved singing karaoke, entertaining family and friends with his favorite songs and bringing smiles to everyone around him. His unwavering love, generosity, and steadfast support will never be forgotten.

He is survived by his beloved children and their spouses:

Charles Mark Lackey and his wife, Joyce, of Brownsville, Tennessee.
Darren Wayne Lackey and his wife, Lisa, of Hernando, Mississippi.
Stuart Lance Lackey and his wife, Kelly, of Crestview, Florida, and their daughter, Bella.
Denise Michelle Massey and her husband, Paul, of Senatobia, Mississippi.

Wayne also leaves behind five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who will continue to carry forward his love, laughter, and enduring legacy.

Wayne will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in the countless memories he gave us, the laughter he shared, and the love he freely gave. His spirit and legacy will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23

May he rest in eternal peace.
