Charles William Petty was born October 2, 1926, died December 2, 2020 at the age of 94. He was born in McNariy County, Tennessee, to Mother Hattie Gray, deceased and Father Bert Bradley Petty, deceased.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 53 years Grace Henry Petty, two daughters Shelia Hamrick (Billy), of Iuka, MS and Tammy Jarnagin (Glen) of Michie, TN; five grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; four step sons, Charles, Barry, Cecil, and Kevin Corzine; eight step-grandchildren, four step-great grandchildren, two brothers deceased, George Nelson Petty and Billy Ray Petty, and two deceased sons, Jackie Petty and Philip Keith Petty.
He spent two years in the Navy aboard an Aircraft Carrier Escort Roatan in the Atlantic Ocean, hunting German subs and surviving two hurricanes. He farmed six years in Michie, TN, and retired from Dover Elevators after thirty years as a supervisor. He was a gifted singer, musician, painter, woodworker, and metal worker.
He loved the Lord and attended Willow Oaks Pentecostal Holiness Church, singing in the choir and with groups for around forty years, and First Assembly of God Memphis, the last seventeen years. He was friendly, funny, and faithful, and leaves a host of friends, co workers, and guitar playing buddies who forged life-long friendships.
