IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles Edward
Speer
October 15, 1932 – November 20, 2025
Charles Edward Speer, born October 15, 1932, in Paragould, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025, at the age of 93. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. Charles lived a long and gracious life marked by love, loyalty, and quiet strength.
Charles was the beloved husband of Frances Crowley Speer, with whom he shared 72 years of steadfast companionship. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, faith, and joy. He was the son of Cecil and Leno Cox Speer, and the brother of Cloyce and Alfreida Speer, all of whom shaped his early life with deep family roots and enduring values.
He is survived by his two children, Donna Ward (Steve) and Keith Speer (Linda), who carry forward his legacy of integrity and kindness. Charles was blessed with grandchildren Stephen McKim (Verónica), Leslie McKim, Sarah Miller (Colton), and Katie Harris (Ien), as well as great-grandchildren Hope, Mia, Mack, Riley, Charlotte, and Sophia. Each of them was a source of pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
In 1951, Charles moved to Memphis, where he built a long and respected career. He served as plant manager at Missouri Portland Cement Company until his retirement, after which he continued working in the parts departments at Chuck Hutton and Jim Keras Chevrolet.
For more than 60 years, Charles was a faithful member of Grimes Methodist Church. His dedication to his faith was the compass of his life. More than anything, he was a loyal servant to his Lord and Savior. His steady example, his quiet acts of love, and the multi-generational faith he nurtured give his family the blessed assurance that they will be reunited in God's perfect time.
Charles found joy in the simple pleasures—cheering for the Memphis Tigers and St. Louis Cardinals, spending time with his family, and traveling with Frances. Together, they made many memories in the wonderful company of their dear friends Jim (RIP) and Martha Sledge.
Charles touched the lives of many with his gentle spirit and unwavering devotion. His memory will be carried forward in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
