Cheairs Wilson "Willy" Craig Jr., age 80, passed away on February 20, 2026, at 2:20 p.m., surrounded by his children and caregivers, in West Plains, MO

Willy was born January 13, 1946, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Sarah Rowland Craig and Cheairs Wilson Craig Sr. He served in the United States Coast Guard and the United States Marine Corps and served during the Vietnam conflict.

Throughout his life, Willy was known for his adventurous spirit and wide range of talents. He worked at U.S. Steel in Baytown, Texas, during the 1970s and later pursued a calling in healthcare, becoming a registered nurse later in life. He also held a pilot's license and had a lifelong passion for music, frequently playing in bands and writing his own songs. An avid motorcycle rider, he embraced the open road and lived life fully and independently.

Willy most recently resided in the mountains of Missouri with his son Matthew and his beloved cat, Blanco.

He is survived by his five sons, Richard, Jeffery, Timothy Scott, Weylan, and Matthew, and his daughter, Alison, along with their spouses, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sarah Rowland Craig and Cheairs Wilson Craig Sr., and his sister, Jane Emily.

Willy will be remembered for his creativity, resilience, sharp mind, and love of music.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday February 27, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park – Midtown, 1661 Elvis Presley Blvd., Memphis, Tennessee 38106.
