IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Cheryl Dean
Kenner
April 16, 1945 – December 25, 2024
Cheryl Dean Bundy Kenner, 79 yrs old, passed away on Dec 25, 2024. She was a beloved mother, wife, grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Cheryl, an identical twin to Carol Bundy, was born on April 16, 1945 in Memphis, TN. She attended Whitehaven High School and went on to attend Blue Mountain College.
Cheryl is survived by her brother, Bobby Bundy (Peggy); children, Renee Westbrook, Amy Griffith (Duane), and Donny Kenner; her grandchildren, Cristina and Zachary Griffith and Chele and Katie Westbrook; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Bea Bundy; twin sister, Carol Bowen (who passed on Dec 26, they almost had the same date of birth and day of death – just 14 years apart), and her spouse, Donald Kenner.
After having children, she left the work force and became a devoted mother. She loved spending time with her children, sharing stories, playing games, crocheting, knitting, singing, and helping others.
Cheryl was never one to know a stranger. She would talk with anyone who would listen. Cheryl enjoyed meeting new people. If she went to the doctor office, she would know everyone in the waiting room before she left.
In the early 1990s, she became involved with foreign exchange students and loved learning about their cultures. Over the years she housed many foreign exchange students – several we still keep in touch with. Little did she know, her love for internationals would carry over to her grandchildren.
When the Pyramid in Memphis was first built, it housed several exhibits from time to time. Cheryl volunteered for several – her favorite was the Titanic Exhibit.
Cheryl loved singing in the Alto section of choir at Graceland Baptist Church, as Mrs. Mary says, The Awesome Altos. Her and her twin both sang in the choir, played handbells, and taught Children's choir. Cheryl volunteered at Trinity Baptist Church to organize the orchestra and choir music.
Cheryl loved to make crafts. She introduced her children to painting pottery, dance classes, cross-stitch, piano, crochet, knitting, scrapbooking, and sewing. She taught both her girls how to crochet and then her grandchildren. She loved making things for people – especially her grands every Christmas. If she followed a pattern and didn't change, it was incredible. There was always a better way to make it than to follow the pattern. Not only did she teach her family, she taught classes at a local knit shop – Hank of Yarn.
Since her grandson wasn't interested in crochet, Cheryl bought a Nintendo DS just so she could play the same games as Zachary. She was always there to support her children and grandchildren.
