Claire Hollowell Mercer born January 17, 1919 in Arden, AR, died August 24, 2015 under hospice care in Collierville, TN. She was a devoted mother, loving wife, and selfless volunteer for Meals on Wheels (20 years) and Baptist DeSoto (25 years). Claire was a long time active member of Graceland Baptist Church and more recently Trinity Baptist Church. She was also a spirited, inspiring woman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrester H. Mercer (Jimmy); parents, John and Nettie Hollowell; sister, Annie Campbell; brothers: Will Tom Hollowell, John C. Hollowell, and Joseph A. Hollowell. She is survived by her children: Pamela M Carson (Johnny), Michael R. Mercer, Frenchie Mercer, and Lesa M. Avery (Charles); grandchildren: Shea C. Griffin (Cliff), Jeffery L. Carson (Stephanie), Laura M. Landwehr (Lewis), Emily M. Kalmon (Nathan), Christopher R. Avery; and seven great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 2 p.m., with a funeral service beginning at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 28 at Forest Hill, South on Holmes Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville, TN or the American Heart Association .
