Clara Ann (Brommer) Elam Holton was born in Memphis on September 8, 1932, the daughter of Kelly (Robert K.) and Clara (Wilson) Brommer. She passed away on October 15, 2016 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio at age 84. Clara graduated from Snowden Junior High and Central High School in Memphis. She married James Elam and had five children: Jimmy, Jeanne, Bobby, Rick, and Jeff. She was preceded in death by all of her children except Rick. Several years ago Rick and his wife, Linda, moved Clara to Powell, Ohio, near their home so that they could care for her and where she could be closer to her grandchildren, Ricky Jr. and Alexandra. Clara worked 26 years for the Shelby County Health Department before her retirement. In 1982 she married Ira L. Holton, who also preceded her in death along with her older brother Bob Brommer. In addition to Rick and his family, Clara leaves her brother, John D. Brommer Sr. and his family; her daughter-in-law Carol Elam and grandsons Eric and Jason Elam; Ira's daughters, Judi Brown and Rebecca Holton; and 5 great-grandchildren. She was an active member and a Deaconess at Central Christian Church, the church of her parents and family. All services and burial to be held Tuesday Oct 25th at Forest Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery 1661 S. Elvis Presley Blvd, Memphis, TN 38106.
